Mandated Reporting
Illinois law mandates that employees must make reports if they have reasonable cause to suspect abuse or neglect. Mandated reporters employed at DPS61 include: Registered and licensed practical nurses in the schools; teachers; school personnel, educational advocates assigned to a child pursuant to the School Code; truant officers; child care workers; social workers and assistants working under the direct supervision of a psychologist.
You must provide proof, prior to your first day of work, that you have successfully completed the DCFS Mandated Reporter Training. Please print the confirmation that you successfully completed the training and return it to the Human Resources office. This must be done prior to your first day of work.
Computer Acceptable Use
All users of the District Computer System (“System”) must comply with the District’s Acceptable Use Guidelines, as amended from time to time.- The System shall include all computer hardware and software owned or operated by the District, the District electronic mail, the District web site, and the District on-line services and bulletin board systems. “Use” of the System shall include use of or obtaining access to the System from any computer terminal whether owned or operated by the District.
- Employees have no expectation of privacy in their use of the System. The District has the right to access, review, copy, delete, or disclose, as allowed by law, any message sent, received, or stored on the District’s electronic mail system. The District has the right to and does monitor use of the System by employees, including employees’ access to the Internet, as part of System maintenance to determine whether the use is consistent with federal and state laws and District policies and guidelines.

Drug Free Workplace
All District workplaces are drug- and alcohol-free workplaces. All employees shall be prohibited from:- Unlawful manufacture, dispensing, distribution, possession, use, or being under the influence of a controlled substance while on District premises or while performing work for the District.

Smoke Free WorkplaceThe Smoke-Free Illinois Act prohibits smoking in a public place or place of employment or within 15 feet of an entrance, exit, window or ventilation intake to a public place or place of employment. The Illinois School Code further prohibits the use of all tobacco products on school property by any personnel, student or other person when such property is being used for any school purposes.
Persons with addictions to tobacco products are encouraged to contact the Employee Assistance Program.

Scent ProtocolSince January 7, 2002, the district has asked that no perfumes, colognes, or scented products be sprayed (used) within the school buildings by either students or staff members. This also includes scented candles, reed diffusers, plug-ins, air-fresheners etc. Please be sensitive to those with respiratory issues, especially as winter approaches and windows are closed, and remove all scented products from district buildings.
The custodial department has products which have been approved for general use which are less likely to induce respiratory reactions. Please ask your custodian to provide approved products.
